Certified HVAC Designer – CHD Exam Refresher
The Certified HVAC Designer (CHD) Overview training program teaches participants to design foundational HVAC systems for building or project requirements, covering ducts, zoning plans, control sequences, air diffusion, and integrating technologies.
The CHD certification verifies an individual’s ability to design HVAC systems that align with the requirements of a building or project. This includes performing load calculations, selecting and sizing equipment, designing mechanical equipment rooms, designing ducts and piping, and creating layouts for the development of HVAC plans for permits and construction. The CHD validates competency in these key domains: system design, design calculations, procedural, and coordination.
In line with ISO/IEC 17024 standards, the CHD certification shows that the holder knows how to design HVAC systems for buildings or projects. This includes figuring out the right equipment size, load calculations, mechanical equipment room design, duct and pipe layout, and making HVAC plans for building permits and construction.
Certified HVAC designers manage building modifications, calculate heat loss, and determine ventilation rate requirements; they also design HVAC systems, prepare flow diagrams, schematics, and plan drawings, and review shop drawings for potential obstructions and equipment submittals.
Krishnaji Pawar, an accomplished sustainability specialist with expertise in smart city development, sustainable design strategy development, environmental impact assessment, green building certification (LEED, GSAS, etc.), energy usage modeling, greenhouse gas accounting, and emissions management, developed the Certified HVAC Designer (CHD) Overview training.
